Time Management to Improve Training and Racing

Most athletes start out each new season with high expectations. They envision themselves being successful in their races but they fail to put together a realistic plan or establish a routine that will enable them to achieve it.

There are only so many hours in a day, days in a week, and weeks in a term. And if you don’t pay attention, your available time will expire before you know it – catching you by surprise.

To achieve a successful race, you must carefully manage your training time on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

To help you in your time management strategy we are listing the following:

• Use a calendar
• Find your motivation
• Find an “A” race • Hire a Coach (Certified Coach)
• Don’t get distracted
• Be prepared always
• Plan your week ahead
• Meal prep
• Use science (through measurable objective data, record improvements)
• Study your nutrition
• Visualize Transitions
• Practice in a group settings (OWS, Masters, Cycling group, Track)
• Know your individuality ( when listen to other athletes, remember your goals might be different, so whatever they are saying to you probably wont work the same)
• Be ready for an activity at all times (Tri Trunk)
• Have fun, always find a way to enjoy, otherwise why are you doing it?
